Game of Thrones’ penultimate episode, “The Bells,” has been a polarizing one to say the least. But no matter your opinion, there’s one thing that no viewer can deny: The actors brought their absolute best to the table, and they looked damn good doing it.

As always, Michele Clapton’s costumes added another layer to the storytelling. The three main contenders for the Iron Throne are all sporting their house colors, even if one of them is just a little in denial about which house he technically belongs to now. Daenerys’ looks also chronicle her descent into madness.

Some of the characters are wearing their usual attire, but even if we’ve seen these pieces before, they take on new meaning as the episode unfolds. This is especially true of Tyrion’s Hand of the Queen pin, which he’s probably thinking about tossing in Blackwater Bay at this point.

There’s also significance to the removal and destruction of certain costumes. For example, we finally get a peek beneath Ser Gregor Clegane’s helmet. Arya’s clothing is absolutely destroyed along with the rest of King’s Landing.

There’s plenty to dive into when it comes to the costumes of “The Bells,” so let’s get started.
