Netflix announces release date, releases photos for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance

Netflix is currently hard at work on a show set in the same world as Jim Henson’s 1982 cult classic The Dark Crystal, about a battle between good and evil and puppets. The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is set before the events of the movie, and will star the likes of Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei from Game of Thrones) as Deet, Taron Egerton (the Kingsman movies) as Rian, and Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch) as Brea.

Netflix released a bunch of photos in a press release. Here’s Emmanual’s character, Deet:

The world of the Dark Crystal is populated by two races, the malevolent Skeksis and the kindly Mystics. Below, the Skeksis chow down at a banquet:

Emmanuel isn’t the only Game of Thrones alum in the cast. Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell) and Ralph Ineson (Dagmer Cleftjaw) are also on hand, joined by approximately everyone in Hollywood. Here’s the rest of the cast:

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is directed by Louis Leterrier (Clash of the Titans), will have 10 one-hour episodes, and will drop on Netflix debut on Friday, August 30. As an ’80s kid, I am ready.
