Fashion is Coming: Examining the costumes of “The Iron Throne”

With the Game of Thrones series finale airing this past Sunday, fans have seen the last of characters like Jon, Tyrion, and Daenerys — and the last of their costumes, which have provided extra layers of meaning throughout their time on the show. And the costumes of “The Iron Throne” did not disappoint, bringing the characters’ fashion journeys to an end with quite a bang.

Daenerys’ outfit emphasizes her descent into madness, while Jon’s alludes to his leaving Westeros behind. But characters like Sansa, Arya, and Bran begin brand new journeys during the finale, and their attire speaks to that.

Of course, the Starks and the Targaryens aren’t the only ones sporting interesting looks during “The Iron Throne.” Brienne’s armor sees a serious upgrade. Grey Worm’s armor, on the other hand, appears about as tired and worn as he does. And Tyrion’s Hand of the Queen pin, which has been a prominent part of our “Fashion is Coming” series, did more than highlight the tensions between himself and Dany.
