Take the Black Live: Highs and lows of “The Iron Throne”

facebooktwitterreddit

It’s time to talk about the Game of Thrones series finale here on Take the Black Live! Like a lot of fans, parts of it didn’t work for us, but other parts did, and all of it is well worth discussing. Watch us above!

This is a super-serious topic for super-serious people. Our topics include:

  • I go to bat for the scene where Drogon burns the Iron Throne. Cheryl isn’t as convinced. Round one!
  • Although we talk about it in more detail over at the WiC Club, I liked the choice of Bran as King of the Seven Six Kingdoms. Cheryl isn’t as convinced. Round two!
  • Speaking of the choosing, what do we make of Westeros inching toward a more democratic form of government? I’m a fan of the development. Cheryl isn’t as convinced. Round three!
  • We both agree that Sansa’s coronation as Queen of the North was a highlight, and that the ending montage in general was good stuff. I stump for Jon’s ending in particular.

All that and we also discuss HBO’s The Last Watch documentary airing tomorrow and George R.R. Martin’s discussion of whether the ending to his books will resemble the ending to the show. What a jam-packed episode!
