Chris Hemsworth feels “energized” over the idea of more Thor movies

WARNING: SPOILERS for Avengers: Endgame follow

With Avengers: Endgame in the rearview mirror, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is entering a new phase. Some heroes definitely won’t be coming back, like Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man or Chris Evans’ Captain America. (Or at least, they probably won’t headline their own movies again.) But by the end of Endgame, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor was still intact. When will we see him in action again?

We can’t know for sure, but when Hemsworth recently talked to Variety, he said he was “energized” by the prospect of more Thor movies.

"I’d still love to do more, to be honest. And I don’t know what the plan is. I feel like we’ve opened up such a different character. I feel more energized for the possibility of where it could go. But I’ll use that in other places and other characters if it’s the end here."

Something tells me we haven’t seen the last of Thor. Last we saw him, he was jetting off with the Guardians of the Galaxy. With the rehire of James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is back on track, so we expect to see him there, at minimum, to say nothing of future Thor movies.

Asgardians of the Galaxy, anyone? Yes, please!

When we see Thor again, will he keep his thicker look from Endgame? A lot of people were taken aback or angered by Thor’s new look, both online and even on set. As it ends up, Hemsworth himself championed the look when making the movie. Thor was supposed to slim down partway through the story, but Hemsworth fought to keep “Lebowski Thor,” as he called it. “I enjoyed that version of Thor,” he said. “It was so different than any other way I played the character. And then it took on a life of its own.”

Personally, I loved seeing Thor like this. It illustrated his frustration and feeling of loss after the events of Infinity War and the beginning of Endgame and gave us a different perspective on the character. Bravo, Chris Hemsworth for putting on one hell of a show!
