Sophie Turner would have been “disappointed” with any other ending for Sansa

We don’t need to play coy: not everyone enjoyed the series finale of Game of Thrones. But even among detractors, the ending for Sansa Stark seemed to go over well. She may not have sat the Iron Throne, but as Turner herself pointed out, Sansa never wanted that thing. She started the show wanting to marry a cute boy, she spent the next few seasons wanting to get as far away from the Iron Throne as possible, and when she finally did, it was all about restoring the Stark name to its former glory. As Queen in the North, she’s finally in a position of security and authority. It was the end of a very long journey.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Turner seems to agree, saying she wouldn’t have felt as comfortable with any other ending for her character. “I wouldn’t have been annoyed, but I might have been a little disappointed,” she said. “The thing about Game of Thrones is that not every character gets what they want.”

"So I wouldn’t have been shocked if Sansa didn’t end up where she wanted with the people she wanted to rule over and all of that. But I’m very happy that she did end up that way, it’s like the perfect ending for my character, I was so happy."

Same, Sophie. Same.

Turner is going from one press tour to another, jumping from talking about Game of Thrones to talking about X-Men: Dark Phoenix, where she plays the lead role of Jean Grey. Although she still seems to be at the point where people are asking her about Thrones no matter what she’s supposed to be plugging. Maybe that’ll stop when Dark Phoenix drops on June 7.
