Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will blow a Death Star-sized hole in your wallet
If you plan on taking the family to visit the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge theme land at a Disney park in the near future, then you had better start saving now. The Orange County Register is reporting on the prices for some of the merchandise, and none of it is cheap.
So just how expensive are we talking? Here are some of the pricier “experiences” and pieces of merch:
- $199.99 for the build-your-own lightsaber experience. It’s an experience like no other because only 14 lightsaber builders will enter the shop at a time and spend 20 minutes assembling their own unique lightsaber in four different styles: Peace & Justice of the Jedi, Power & Control of the Sith, Elemental Nature and Protection & Defense.
- $99.99 for the build-your-own-droid experience.
- $149.99 for the DJ R-3X, a remote-controlled toy that talks, rolls and wirelessly plays music from your smartphone.
- $59.99 for a C-3PO toy that cries “What’s going on?” when you rip his head off (why would you even do that?). All of these last three can be found at the Droid Depot.
- $42 for an Endor collectible souvenir mug.
- $32 for a Porg collectible souvenir mug you can get with a “Cliff Dweller cocktail.” You can get both mugs at Oga’s Cantina.

So to recap: You can buy your little Jedi or Sith their own Build-a-Lightsaber for almost $200 only to have them swing it at a tree or trashcan outside the park and break it in half. If your kid wants a lightsaber, Walmart may be a more cost-effective solution, I’m just saying.
All these wallet-decimating experiences can be found at Black Spire Outpost village at the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge theme park in Disneyland on May 31, and at Disney World on August 29.
