Cast members share behind-the-scenes pics from The Last Kingdom season 4

Filming on season 4 of Netflix’s medieval drama The Last Kingdom is well underway, and Game of Thrones fans will be shocked to learn that cast and crew members have been freely sharing images across social media.

None of the behind-the-scenes images fall into the spoiler category, except perhaps the final one, so enjoy, arselings!

First up, we have Uhtred’s most loyal warriors, Arnas Fedaravicius (Sihtric) and Mark Rowley (Finan) looking lean and hungry.

Season 3 introduced Cnut (Magnus Bruun), a potential rival for lead character Uhtred. But it’s worth it, because Bruun loves a behind-the-scenes photo. Here, Bruun and Adrian Bouchet (Steapa) are all smiles:

We doubt their on-screen meeting will be as pleasant.

Warriors aren’t born; they train, and Bruun appears to be no different. Here he is working with members of the season 4 stunt team.

Put the work in, boys. Also, where can I get one of those nifty season 4 t-shirts?

Bouchet shared his own image from set. Apparently, he’s having trouble managing his horse:

Of architectural interest, The Last Kingdom hair and makeup designer Katie Pickles took this shot of one of the locations:

Lastly (this is the only picture that could be considered a SPOILER), we have a shot of several cast members together with leading man Alexander Dreymon (Uhtred).

We’ve got Sithric, Finan and Osferth (Ewan Mitchell), along with Uhtred, all flanking Millie Brady’s  Aethelflaed. Osferth appears to be sporting a sling of some sorts, so perhaps there’s violence afoot in season 4? Shocking.

Details on season 4 are sparse, although Netflix did release the following synopsis:

"After the death of Alfred, the alliances between the kingdoms are fractured. Uhtred believes the timing is right to challenge his uncle Aelfric, played by Joseph Millson (Casino Royale, Banished), and take back his ancestral home, Bebbanburg. However fate shifts in a different direction, leading Uhtred to realize that his destiny is tied to Alfred’s dream of a united land. This, and Uhtred’s feelings for Aethelflaed, drive him back into the politics that threaten to break out into war."

That would certainly explains Uhtred and crew hanging around the Lady Aethelflaed. No official release date has been set, but we can expect season 4 some time in 2020. Given the early filming schedule however, we’re hoping it’s sooner rather than later. Destiny is all!
