Harrison Ford thinks Indiana Jones should die when he does
There are few American movie characters more iconic than the adventurous archaeology professor Indiana Jones, and few actors more beloved than Harrison Ford. We’ve gotten four Indiana Jones movies thus far with a fifth installment is in the works and scheduled for a summer 2021 release. At age 76, Ford is getting pretty long in the tooth, and there’s plenty of speculation about what will happen with the franchise after he’s retired.
Might another actor pick up the whip and fedora? Chris Pratt, perhaps? Or Chris Pine? Definitely someone named Chris.
Indy’s future is a no-brainer for Ford, who told Today that he is Indiana Jones, and when he dies, Indy should die with him.
“Nobody is gonna be Indiana Jones,” Harrison said. “I’m Indiana Jones. When I’m gone, he’s gone. It’s easy.” Okay then.
Ford also says this is “a hell of a way” to break this news to actor Chris Pine, although he probably meant Chris Pratt, whom people have been talking about stepping into the role for a while. (Ford has never liked the idea, by the way.)
Ford’s other super-famous character, Han Solo, has already been recast: Alden Ehrenreich played a younger version of him in Solo: A Star Wars Story. While Ford has stayed pretty positive about Han’s treatment, he’s drawing the line with Indy. If it’s up to Ford, once he’s gone there will be no Indy reboot, no prequels, no sequels, no re-makes, no Indy nothing.

But the thing is, isn’t not up to Ford. Disney owns the franchise rights, and the series is way too lucrative to leave unexploited for long. Chris

Pratt’s phone may ring yet.
