Game of Thrones prequel cast members show up in Belfast to film pilot

Game of Thrones is over, but we’re still talking about actors gathering in Belfast to film new adventures in Westeros. It’s strangely comforting.

Anyway, HBO is on track to shoot a pilot for an upcoming Game of Thrones prequel this month. The working title (or possibly the codename) is Bloodmoon. George R.R. Martin has taken to calling it The Long Night. Until we get something official, we’ll just keep calling it the Game of Thrones prequel.

The prequel is set thousands of years before the events of the mainline show, before dragons came to the continent and even before the Wall was built. It’ll be a whole world, with a whole new cast. Among them is Jamie Campbell Bower, a veteran of Camelot, the Twilight saga and Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd movie. Just last week, he tweeted about going “off on a new adventure”…

…and was then spotted in Belfast, Northern Ireland the filming hub of Game of Thrones for the length of its production:

Also in the area is stage actor and cast member Alex Sharp, who’s checking out the famous Giant’s Causeway, which isn’t far from Ballintoy Harbour, which has stood in for the Iron Islands.

All that and cast member Marquis Rodriguez has been posting images to Instagram stories showing himself and Sharp exploring Northern Ireland’s Peace Maze, which is a huge hedge maze. Basically, these two are seeing the sights.

So it is happening again!

We pause at this point to remind everyone that, at the moment, HBO hasn’t committed to a full series; it’s only shooting a pilot. We can only hope it’s good enough to pick up.

And with a cast this good, the pilot should at least be interesting. In addition to Bower, Sharp, and Rodriguez, the cast also includes:
