Animated Jurassic World series coming to Netflix in 2020
Need more dinosaurs? Netflix and Dreamworks animation have teamed up to produce a children’s animated series based on 2015’s Jurassic World and its sequel(s). The show is titled Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. Here’s an early teaser trailer:
From the looks of this Velociraptor-on-the-attack trailer, it’s safe to say that this isn’t your little brother’s Dinosaur Train. Here’s the synopsis from Dreamworks:
"Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous follows a group of six teenagers chosen for a once-in-a-lifetime experience at a new adventure camp on the opposite side of Isla Nublar. But when dinosaurs wreak havoc across the island, the campers are stranded. Unable to reach the outside world, they’ll need to go from strangers to friends to family if they’re going to survive."
So basically a teen summer camp with dinosaurs and slightly more chance of being killed by wildlife. Unless the kids can somehow befriend a few T-Rex really fast, things might get scary really quick.
One big question off the bat: who in their right mind would put a teen camp on the same island where so much mayhem, death and dino-disaster has already occurred? I mean, they’ve made how many movies about this now? The dinosaurs always escape. Somebody’s up to no good on Isla Nublar, we’d expect.
The Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous showrunners are Scott Kreamer (Pinky Malinky) and Lane Lueras (Kung Fu Panda: The Paws Of Destiny); Steven Spielberg, Lane Lueras, Colin Trevorrow and Frank Marshall are all executive producers. The series is scheduled to premiere on Netflix in 2020.
