Game of Thrones to return to San Diego Comic-Con for last hurrah

The San Diego Comic-Con, the biggest pop culture convention on Earth, kicks off on Thursday, July 18. According to Deadline, after two years away, Game of Thrones will return to the hallowed Hall H for one last hurrah.

Now, true, the final season of the show didn’t get the best of reviews, but hopefully the cast members can wide the wave of fan love in person. That said, Deadline doesn’t seem sure exactly who’s coming, but it tosses out the names Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Sophie Turner, Isaac Hempstead Wright, Maisie Williams, Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, John Bradley and Gwendoline Christie. That would be quite a lineup.

Interestingly, Deadline reports that the presence of Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss “does not seem likely,” but that A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin “is anticipated to appear in one form or another.”

“One form or another,” huh? Teleconference? It’s always noteworthy when Martin takes a break from writing The Winds of Winter to make a public appearance, something he’s been talking about more openly lately. Holy god, can you imagine the furor if he appeared onstage at SDCC and announced that Winds was done? Talk about a power move.

Okay, I think I let my imagination run away with me for a second there. In any case, we’ll be watching the proceedings in San Diego closely. If you wanna attend the event yourself, you can purchase badges here.

Next. A Song of Dan and Josh: Jon II (A Clash of Kings). dark
