Behind the scenes of The Last Kingdom season 4: “Battle week” and Uhtred’s hair

Thor and Odin bless the cast of The Last Kingdom, as the actors on Netflix’s medieval saga continue to bring us all manner of behind the scenes images from the set of season 4.

Fear not, arselings: none of these images steer SPOIL anything. It’s just glimpses of the cast enjoying themselves, plus one shot of our hero, Uhtred son of Uhtred.

First up, we have Magnus Bruun aka Cnut, a Viking rival to Uhtred introduced in season 3:

Bruun is quite the Twitter chatter box. Below, he debuts his “battle week” makeup:

Battle week, you say? Whatever violent stuff he filmed, he looks like he enjoyed it.

This next one should lighten things up:

Mark Rowley brings us a shot of himself (Finan) and the Lady of Mercia, Millie Brady (Aethelflaed). They’re singing in the rain. Or singing with umbrellas, it’s hard to tell. Whatever they’re doing, I’ll bet that horse is confused.

Finan better watch himself, though; Uhtred is rumored to be interested in the Lady of Mercia as well.

And speaking of Uhtred, here we have the rightful Lord of Bebbanburg (Alexander Dreymon). Although hardly a spoiler, we do get a good look at Uhtred’s new hairstyle, which has famously changed with each new season. This is similar to his slicked-back look in season 3, but lighter, and maybe slightly more wild? I wonder what that will mean for some poor Danes come season 4.
