Check out behind-the-scenes photos from Amazon’s Dark Tower show
As part of its bid to take over the world, Amazon is making a show based on Stephen King’s Dark Tower series of novels. I guess a Lord of the Rings show and The Wheel of Time show aren’t enough to slake Jeff Bezos’ thirst to own everything.
Anyway, we haven’t heard much about filming on the show, but actor Emir Muller gave us some insight when he posted a couple of pictures of himself on set:
Muller is in costume as a Big Coffin Hunter. In Dark Tower lore, the Big Coffin Hunters are a group of bandits: Eldred Jonas (the leader), Clay Reynolds and Roy Depape. Each one has a coffin tattooed between their index finger and thumb. Lead character Roland Deschain (Sam Strike) has a run-in with them as a young man and they are most definitely bad guys.
We’re not sure which of the Big Coffin Hunters Muller is playing but he looks cool, and the set behind him looks exactly how a Dark Tower set should.
So far as other info goes, we know that former Vikings star Jasper Pääkkönen will play The Man in Black, aka Walter Padick, aka Randall Flagg, the main villain of this and several Stephen King stories.

Rounding out The Dark Tower news, Deadline has reported that former Walking Dead and Guardians of the Galaxy star Michael Rooker has joined the cast, probably to play the villain Eldred Jonas. If that’s the case, the first season of Amazon’s show is definitely taking place in Roland Deschain’s youth and may well be about how he earned his reputation and acquired his guns. As a boy, Roland goes to the town of Hambry to take stock of its resources for his father. While there, he and his friends encounter the Big Coffin Hunters for the first time. I’ll bet the set in those pictures in Hambry.
This is looking really great, and I can’t wait to get a look at the first trailer.
