Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is officially leaving behind the world of Westeros and taking his talents elsewhere. It’s hard to imagine Coster-Waldau as anyone but Jaime Lannister, but I guess we have to let it go now and move on. And it appears this may be easier than we think, since Coster-Waldau is taking on a completely different kind of role.

Entertainment Weekly reports that our dear Nikolaj Coster-Waldau will be starring in FX’s new dramaGone Hollywood. Joining him will be Mozart in the Jungle’s Lola Kirke (an amazing actress!), The Umbrella Academy’s John Magaro, and fellow Game of Thrones alum Jonathan Pryce (the High Sparrow).

After reading about the pilot, I have to say I am very much intrigued by the story, which takes place in 1980s Hollywood. Hollywood stories often take place in the ’50s or ’70s, so I’m looking forward to seeing what the industry looked like in the ’80s. Gone Hollywood will focus on a group of talent agents who start their agency and soon take over Tinseltown.

Gone Hollywood is fiction, but it’ll mix in some real-life history and involve movers and shakers of the day. It’s roughly based on how Creative Artists Agency got its start.

We are so used to seeing Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister that seeing him don a suit and help aspiring talent achieve their dreams will be a pleasant change. I wonder what he saw in this role that made him want to take it, especially considering just how different it is than what he’s done recently. I do have to point out that we aren’t sure of Coster-Waldau’s exact role yet, but my vote goes for him being one of the agents. Because come on, Jamie Lannister trading in his suit of armor for a suit and tie? Yes, please.
