Trailer: The Terror takes us to a haunted internment camp for season 2

facebooktwitterreddit

The first season of AMC’s The Terror took us to the frozen landscapes of the arctic circle, where English sailors tried and failed to find the Northwest passage and fell victim to all manner of maladies, from disease to mutiny to cannibalism to mysterious creatures heretofore unknown to science. It was excellent and we wanted more.

And AMC is going to give it to us. The second season of The Terror kicks off on August 12, and will take place in an entirely different milieu. This time, the horror will revolve around a Japanese internment camp in the midst of World War II, with Star Trek’s own George Takei on board as Yamato, a community elder steeped in the lore and traditions of old Japan. Takei also is on board as a consultant. Derek Mio plays the lead role of Chester Nakayama, a son of Japanese-born immigrants who joins the army.

Check out the trailer:

“Set during World War II, the haunting and suspenseful second season of the horror-infused anthology, The Terror: Infamy centers on a series of bizarre deaths that haunt a Japanese-American community, and a young man’s journey to understand and combat the malevolent entity responsible,” reads the official synopsis. We’re shivering already.

The first season of The Terror was based on a book of the same name by author Dan Simmons. Unless I’m mistaken, for Infamy, showrunner Alexander Woo is working without a net. But given how good the first season was, I’m more than willing to go along for the ride.
