HBO wraps filming on its Watchmen show

HBO is readying its post-Game of Thrones lineup, including a show based on Alan Moore’s Watchmen, a seminal graphic novel about how superheroes would fit into our world if they were real. This ship is being steered by Damon Lindelof, of Lost and The Leftovers fame, and isn’t so much an adaptation as a “remix,” to use his words. Also it’s in the future because a lot of the characters are clearly older, such as Jeremy Irons’ Adrian Veidt, aka the superhero Ozymandias. We probably won’t know just how different the show is from the source material until it airs.

And that might not be that far off. As reported by Bleeding Cool, several crew members have been posting on social media about filming being over, starting with make-up/hair stylist Philonese West:

Interesting that West refers to the show as The Watchmen in both of her posts. Is that the official name or is that just something she’s writing?

Set costumer Mandy L. Fason was also shutter-bugging in at the wrap party:

I guess the theme of the party was “terrifying circus.” That’s a good sign, I think.

Watchmen has an impressive cast that includes the likes of Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Jean Smart. And again, Jeremy Irons is in it as Old Ozymandias. That’s definitely worth mentioning twice.

All that and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails are on board to compose the music, because why not?

We don’t have an exact release date but The Watchmen or whatever it’s called will drop this fall.
