Kit Harington has been through a lot over the last few months, particularly following the airing of the series finale of Game of Thrones. The series meant a lot to him and brought about a huge number of changes in his life. It made complete sense to want to take a breather, which is exactly what he did when he checked into a wellness facility.

In honor of him and his performance as Jon Snow, fans created a fundraiser on JustGiving.com, with donations going to Mencap, a charity that works with people with learning disabilities. Harington has worked with them for years.

“Kit Harington has given so much to the fans of Game of Thrones over the past decade playing the King in the North, Jon Snow,” reads the JustGiving page. “He absolutely nailed his performance and we loved every second of screentime we had with him. This fundraiser is here to show Kit that we’re incredibly thankful to him for the sheer amount of love and skill he put into Jon Snow for us to enjoy.”

I love the outpouring of love here. It’s beautiful when fans pull together to do good.

It seems like Harington agrees. Entertainment Weekly reports that he donated £7728.75 (~$9810.48) to the fan-made charity drive, and emotionally thanked the fans for their support. I can’t imagine what this support must mean to him through the rollercoaster ride of emotions over the last few months.

Harington left a message with his donation:

"To those of you who set this page up in my name and to those of you who contributed and left messages, please accept my deepest and most heartfelt thank you. This donations page lifted my heart and brought tears to my eyes, what a beautiful gift to receive…how generous of all of you. Mencap is truly a wonderful charity and the money given here will go to the most incredible cause. With love and respect from beyond the wall…Kit x."

Way to go, fans! Way to go, Kit!

By the way, this isn’t the first time that Game of Thrones fans have banded together to support their favorite stars. Fans also started a charity drive in support of Emilia Clarke’s charity SameYou, which helps young people recover from brain damage and strokes.
