Armor, actors and caves: Images from behind the scenes of Blood Moon
By Dan Selcke
Just yesterday, Watchers on the Wall unveiled an image from the set of HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel, the pilot for which is being filmed right now at Titanic Studios in Northern Ireland. It pretty much confirmed the title of the project: Blood Moon.
Well, when it rains, it pours, because that same source also provided Watchers with some behind-the-scenes images from the set. Let’s take a trip a few thousand years into Westeros’ past and have a look.
First up, we have an image of the set the likes of which we’ve seen a few times before: the production has built a cave. It’s also filming at some caves nearby. Everything is caves with this show. More like Blood Cave, am I right?

Watchers on the WallThe new stuff here is a glimpse at the actors and crew members at work…well, in between takes. Below, a couple actors chat in costume, with hairstyles reminiscent of something you might see a southron lady like Margaery Tryell wear, if not so elaborate:

Then there are the principal cast members, of which there are several. Below, Watchers thinks it spies Denise Gough in the center, while their source thinks the guy with the ponytail with his face away from the camera is The Last Kingdom star Toby Regbo:

Honestly, it’s hard to be sure of any of this. The guy who may or may not be Toby Regbo looks like he’s wearing Jedi robes.
Finally in people, pilot director S.J. Clarkson talks with some crew members:

This is probably the most interesting picture, since it tells us that even thousands of years ago, the Westerosi were still stuck in the medieval period, going at it on the battlefield with armor. Settle in, guys. You’ll be at that a while.
