HBO is bringing Westword, His Dark Materials and more to Comic-Con 2019!
By Ariba Bhuvad
HBO is doing it up big at San Diego Comic-Con this year! We already know that some of the cast and crew members from Game of Thrones are heading to SDCC for one final hurrah, including showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. But that’s not all HBO has in store for fans attending the world-famous convention!
Along with Game of Thrones, there will also be panels spotlighting the cast and crew of Westworld and His Dark Materials, complete with autograph signings. HBO’s press release also says to keep an eye out “around the Gaslamp Quarter for a surprise in-world opportunity to engage with” the network’s new show Watchmen, which is good and cryptic.
HBO is famous for having amazing fan experiences at San Diego Comic-Con like back in 2017 when a handful of fans were whisked away by Westworld hosts to an off-site location. So who knows what’s in store for Watchmen fans?
Westworld will be hosting a panel in the famous Hall H on Saturday, July 20th at 1:15 p.m. Panelists include showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, plus stars Ed Harris, Thandie Newton, Aaron Paul, Tessa Thompson, Evan Rachel Wood, and Jeffrey Wright.
New to the panel this year will be season 3 star Aaron Paul! Maybe we’ll learn more about his character or how he fits into this world. I, for one, can’t wait to learn more! Tell us everything you can, HBO! And if you aren’t thrilled about waiting in line for a chance to get into the panel, then you can try your luck right before with the autograph signing at 11:45 a.m. at the DC Warner Brothers booth inside the convention.

If you’re eager to catch a glimpse of Lin-Manuel Miranda (it’s his first time at SDCC!), then you can see him and some of the cast and crew of His Dark Materials on Thursday, July 18 in Hall at 4:45 p.m., with an autograph signing right before at 2:45 p.m. at the DC Warner Bros. booth. Along with Miranda, James McAvoy (Lord Asriel), Dafne Keen (Lyra), Jane Tranter (executive producer) and Ruth Wilson (Mrs. Coulter) will be in attendance.
