Patrick Steward is returning to the role of Jean-Luc Picard for a new series set sometime after the end of 2002’s Star Trek Nemesis. Simply called Picard, the show will explore the former USS Enterprise captain’s life in retirement, hanging out on his family vineyard.
But obviously that’s not all the show will involve. CBS has now dropped an official poster where Picard is standing besides a new character: a dog who looks heavenward towards the stars, willing his master to get back to where he once belonged:
We still don’t know exactly when The Adventures of Picard and Space Dog will premiere on CBS All Access, but we’ll keep you posted.
We’ll definitely learn more about Picard at San Diego Comic-Con in a couple of weeks. In fact, we’ll probably learn things about a bevy of new sci-fi and fantasy shows, including a new offering from Amazon: Carnival Row, about a human detective named Rycroft Philostrate (Orlando Bloom) starts an affair with a faerie named Vignette Stonemoss (Cara Delevingne) in Victorian London. In this world, fairytale creatures are driven out of the homelands by mankind and must try and live side by side with human beings. Tensions between the races are high, so the affair is dangerous, especially with a string of gruesome murders threatening an uneasy peace.

There’s a nifty poster, too:
Carnival Row premieres right around the corner, on August 30.

Finally, even closer around the corner is Another Life, a new Netflix drama about an astronaut named Niko Breckinridge (Battlestar Galactica veteran Katee Sackhoff) who’s leading a mission to find out more about a strange alien artifact. As you can probably tell from the trailer, things don’t go well:
Another Life is out on July 25. Everything is coming up spaceships, faeries and vineyards!
