Zack Snyder — the man who made ancient Greek history badass and DC superheroes kind of unbearable — is taking his talents to Netflix. The Hollywood Reporter has it that Snyder will serve as an executive producer on an anime show about Norse mythology. Sure, why not?

The head of anime programming for Netflix, John Derderian, praised Snyder’s vision. “Zack Snyder’s innovation in visual storytelling has pushed the industry forward and established him as one of the most distinctive filmmakers of his generation,” he said. “We are beyond excited to partner with him and his exceptional team to bring the iconic characters and stories of Norse mythology to life in his inimitable style.”

As co-creator of the show, Snyder will be working with long-time partner Jay Oliva, who collaborated with him on 300: Rise of an Empire, Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Justice League. Oliva will also serve as showrunner and director.

Snyder’s wife Deborah, who has a lot of producing credits of her own, will also serve as a producer. Stone Quarry Animation is handling production. Snyder is also writing, directing and producing a zombie flick called Army of the Dead for Netflix, so it’s all streaming all the time for him now.

Norse gods are basically superheroes, so Snyder should be right at home here. Obviously, this show will offer a different take on figures like Thor and Loki than what the Marvel Cinematic Universe is doing. I’m thinking Snyder’s vision of Norse mythology might be a little more in line with Sony’s:

And I’d be fine with that.
