Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance ride opening dates announced for Galaxy’s Edge

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has been all the hype since it officially opened to the public this summer in sunny California’s Disneyland. I went there myself during the reservation-only period and it was epic. Your life isn’t complete until you’ve ridden on the Millenium Falcon as a pilot and taken the ship into hyperspace.

With Star Wars Land officially open in Anaheim, residents living close to the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida are eagerly awaiting their turn to explore the world of Batuu. The official opening date for the land itself is August 29, but Disney Parks had an additional exciting announcement to make. As you may or may not know, Galaxy’s Edge will consist of two big rides, one of which is Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run with the other being Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

Currently, the ride is not open yet in Disneyland and will not be open when the theme park first opens in Orlando. However, thanks to the Disney Parks blog, we now know the official opening dates so you can jot down in your calendars. To celebrate Walt Disney’s birthday in a big way, Rise of the Resistance will open in Walt Disney World on December 5 (his actual birthday) and then, about a month and a half later, the ride will open in Disneyland on January 17.

It’s only fair that Disneyworld gets to have both rides first since Disneyland got to enjoy Galaxy’s Edge itself, three months before its sister park did.

If you’re curious as to what the Rise of the Resistance ride will be like, take a peek at the official description from Disney Parks below:

"Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will blur the lines between fantasy and reality and will put guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Guests will be recruited to join Rey and General Organa at a secret base. Along the way, they will be captured by a First Order Star Destroyer. With the help of some heroes of the Resistance, they break out and must escape the Star Destroyer, protect the secret base, and stay one step ahead of Kylo Ren."
