Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) talks about the future of Stranger Things

Stranger Things 3 has taken the world by storm surpassing all expectations since it debuted on the 4th of July, and fans still can’t get enough of it. We have so many questions about the way it ended and even more about whether or not we’re getting another season. Hopefully, we will get at least one more season, but this wait is killing us.

If you’ve watched the third season of Stranger Things then you probably noticed how all the kids look so darn grown up. It’s a bit jarring if you ask me. And the one that looks as if he’s hit puberty overnight and grown into a young man is Caleb McLaughin, aka Lucas. In the third season, his character is in a full-fledged relationship with Max and has certainly matured since we last saw him.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, McLaughlin spoke about Lucas’ arc in the third season and how he’s changed since season 2, and of course, when the heck we will know about season 4.

"He’s changed a lot, for sure. I feel like Lucas has become more mature. He faces his problems differently. He faces battles differently. He deals with them on a mature, more poised level, and before, he was really intense about things, and he felt that he needed to rely on other people, or nothing would go wrong. […] He thinks he’s a man and it kind of shows in season 3. He has clutch moments there."

I would definitely agree with that. I mean, he’s giving out relationship advice in season 3, the kid has grown, and we couldn’t be more proud.

One of the stand-out parts of the second season of Stranger Things was meeting Lucas’ little sister Erica. Immediately, we all fell in love with her and it was wonderful to see her as such a big part of season 3. Of course, that’s pretty much all we know or have seen when it comes to Lucas’ family, which makes us wonder–where the heck are they?

"Maybe more of his family life will be shown in later seasons if we have another season, but you got a glimpse of that in season two and that’s when Erica was shown to the public and everyone loved her, she was pretty funny. You could see that my relationship with my parents isn’t that bad. We were all sitting at the breakfast table and my mom was like “Oh you’re so cute.” And I was loving it, I was really into it. A lot of kids are like “Mom stop.” I was really posing for the camera, flexing and stuff, so it was pretty fun."

Are they CIA agents? Are they working for the government? What’s with all this secrecy?!

And of course, that isn’t the only question on our minds. Everyone is ready to know whether or not the series will get a fourth season. Nothing official has been announced, but McLaughlin has some thoughts: “Maybe they just want to leave you guys hanging like that. I talk to people about this all the time, we can literally leave you guys hanging on the Upside Down.”

Come on man, we can’t be left stuck in the Upside Down, that’s not fair!
