The nominations for the 2019 Emmy Awards have been announced. How did the final season of Game of Thrones do? In a word, really really well.

Okay, that’s three words, but that’s how many it takes to convey my meaning. Let’s take a look at what awards the show is up for:

Outstanding Production Design For A Narrative Period Or Fantasy Program (One Hour Or More)

  • Chernobyl
  • Fosse/Verdon
  • Game Of Thrones — “The Bells”

All of the directors involved with the final season are represented here. I would have gone with “The Bells” rather than “The Long Night” for Miguel Sapochnik and “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” over “The Last of the Starks” for David Nutter.

So yeah, Game of Thrones did really well. That’s despite a lot of…spiriting discussion about the show’s final season. I get the sense that the Emmy voters intend to use this opportunity to award the show as a whole. And hey, Alfie Allen got an Emmy nomination, so I’m not complaining.

The 71st Primetime Emmy Awards will air on Fox on September 22, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. CST.

Next. Game of Thrones star Jerome Flynn shoots down rumors of on-set tension. dark
