Pennywise returns in trailer for IT: Chapter Two, and other Comic-Con stuff

San Diego Comic-Con is on, which means there are going to be lots of trailers and teasers for hotly anticipated shows, movies, and what have you. The deluge has already begun.

For example, although there isn’t a panel for the no-doubt twist-filled final season of Mr. Robot, USA still dropped a teaser for Elliot’s last adventure in the confusing underground world of hacking and stunted emotional growth:

The 50-second teaser may be short, but it’s a big deal for Mr. Robot fans because it looks like Elliot is back in his mother’s home, a place we haven’t seen since he imagined being there back in season 2. We all remember the wacky hallucination scene while Elliot was in prison, don’t we?

His mother has been a big part of the series even though we haven’t seen her, but something tells me that will change in the final season. Presumably, it’s her voice we’re hearing in the teaser above, asking Elliot how many people he will hurt in his quest to do…well, whatever it is he’s always trying to do. We’ll find out this fall.

Stay tuned this fall for the Mr. Robot final season premiere! Who knows, maybe Rami Malek will sneak in some Bohemian Rhapsody performances before he says goodbye to Elliot and Mr. Robot forever.

Next up: killer clowns. Pennywise is back and ready to devour the grown-up members of the Losers Club in IT: Chatper Two.

I am petrified of clowns, and Pennywise has been the thing of my nightmares my entire life, but I still can’t look away!

IT’s big moment came not at Comic-Con itself but rather at ConanCon, with Conan O’Brien interviewing the entire cast and director Andy Muschietti. Per Den Of Geek, three clips from the movie were shown to the ConanCon audience (not fair!) and based on what they had to say, I’m beyond jealous.

First up, Conan previewed the scene where the members of the Losers Club — now played by Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader, Jay Ryan, James Ransone and Isaiah Mustafa — reunite after decades apart in a Chinese restaurant outside Derry, an iconic scene from Stephen King’s book. Apparently, we won’t want to eat fortune cookies after seeing this scene.

Then Conan previewed a funhouse mirror scene you can get a glimpse of in the trailer above. NO THANKS. Finally, in the third scene, Bill faces the guilt of losing Georgie all those years ago in a sequence that seems to pay homage to the squishy horror of John Carpenter’s The Thing.

Once again, I hate clowns, but I can’t wait for this.

And finally, the ’90s are back with Jay and Silent Reboot, which stars Jason Mewes and writer-director Kevin Smith as the titular characters who first puffed their way onto the screen and into America’s heart in movies like ClerksDogma and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. They’re striking back, again:

Time for a Kevin Smith-i-saince?

UPDATE: Tom Cruise just made a surprise appearance at Comic-Con to debut a trailer for Top Gun 2: Maverick!
