Carice van Houten is trading in her days as the Red Woman for a role as a psychologist in her upcoming thriller, Instinct. Based on the series description and trailer below, it looks like the shoe will be on the other foot in a big way. As Melisandre, van Houten got to manipulate others. But in Instinct

Per Variety, van Houten plays Nicoline, a psychologist who becomes infatuated with a sex offender at the institution where she works. Sounds a bit dangerous and racy, doesn’t it? Nothing an actor of van Houten’s caliber can’t handle! Watch the trailer below:

Van Houten isn’t the only one scoring new roles post-Game of Thrones! Variety reports that John Bradley, aka Samwell Tarly, is hitting the big screen alongside Sarah Silverman in Universal’s Marry Me. Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson are part of the cast, as well! Our boy is all grown up — cue the tears.

To hear Variety describe it, Marry Me is a bit like Notting Hill crossed with Star Is Born, which basically sounds like a dream come true to me. And, and, and…it’s a musical comedy! Does this mean Sam is going to burst into song? Oh boy, I sure hope so!

Finally, BBC News reports that Owen Teale — whom Game of Thrones fans may remember as the cruel Alliser Thorne, the man who murdered Jon Snow — is doing something about as far from his onscreen counterpart as could be. As an ambassador for the charity InterAct Stroke Support, Teale reads to stroke survivors. “If you can open a door for somebody and they can go through it, they can speed up their recovery – I’m fascinated by this idea,” he said “It’s made by day being here – 30 years as an actor is paying off.”

InterAct Stroke Support works to help patients with their recovery and enlists the help of celebrities for performances and readings. I think that’s the sweetest thing I’ve read in a while. And goodness knows, we need more of that!
