The Last Kingdom stars pay tribute to Rutger Hauer, continue filming break
By Corey Smith
As The Last Kingdom continue its summer filming break, the cast and crew took a moment to honor actor Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner, Batman Begins), who passed away this week at the age of 75. Hauer appeared in the very first episode of the series, playing the blind Viking skald (poet) Ravn:
Eliza Butterworth (Aelswith) commented on the post, calling Hauer an “incredible man.” Jeppe Beck Laursen (Haesten) posted his own condolences via Twitter:
James Northcote (Aldhelm) chimed in as well.
Rest in peace, Mr. Hauer.
In less saddening news, Mark Rowley (Finan) took to Instagram to reveal his thoughts on the election of Boris Johnson as England’s next Prime Minister.
Continuing his vacation in Corsica, Rowley enjoyed some delicious-looking snacks…
…before doing his best impressions of various sea creatures:
Fierce Irish warrior Finan, ladies and gentlemen.
Elsewhere, Eliza Butterworth (Aelswith) enjoyed a birthday, which luckily enough fell during the summer filming break:
Later, she hit up a theme park and posted a pretty damn epic video:
Wife of the King of Wessex, ladies and gentlemen.

And finally, Northcote posted a behind-the-scenes shot of his character, Aldhelm, bonding with his horse during what looks like a battle scene. How cute.
What will the crazy cast get up to next week? And when will they return to filming season 4, which will hopefully be before too much time has elapsed in 2019? We’ll find out soon, arselings!
