Showtime’s Penny Dreadful: City of Angels has added a new cast member: actor Sebastian Chacon will appear in a recurring role as the nasty Fly Rico, the leader of a Latino “Zoot Suit” gang called The Pachucos. Chacon’s credits include Tales of the City, Gotham, Chicago Fire and Narcos.
The current City of Angels cast includes Daniel Zovatto, Game of Thrones alumni Natalie Dormer, Kerry Bishé, Adriana Barraza, Rory Kinnear, Jessica Garza, Johnathan Nieves, Michael Gladis and Nathan Lane.
City of Angels is a spinoff from Showtime’s Penny Dreadful TV series (2014-2016). While the original show had gothic overtones was set in Victorian-era London, Angels takes us to the pre-war milieu of 1938 Los Angeles. The new show will deal heavily in storylines involving Mexican folklore and Nazi espionage, where the real and supernatural conflict, with Santa Muerte and the Devil sharing space with pre-war uneasiness.
Showtime’s Head of Programming, Gary Levine, has expressed a lot of excitement about the new series. “We were so thrilled when John Logan came to us with this wildly original take on the Penny Dreadful mythology that explores both the human spirit and the spirit world here in California,” he said. “Penny Dreadful: City of Angels promises to be an extraordinary saga of familial love set against the terrifying monsters that are around us and within us.”

The American horror/drama series is created by John Logan and executive produced by Logan and Sam Mendes (Skyfall, American Beauty). Shot in Los Angeles, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels is slated to premiere in late 2018 or early 2019.
