According to Variety, all the “new” seasons of Doctor Who — beginning with the 2005 reboot starring Christopher Eccleston — will be exclusively available for streaming on HBO Max when the service launches in the spring of 2020.
What’s HBO Max? Well, it’s yet another upcoming streaming service in the vein of Netflix, Hulu and Disney+, this time coming courtesy of WarnerMedia. But hey, based on the things that will be available to watch on there, it’s starting to look pretty enticing.
The “exclusive streaming rights” have been given to HBO Max for Doctor Who from the Ninth Doctor on. This deal, of course, will include future seasons as well, after they air on the BBC first. HBO Max also has claim to a few other British gems, such as Luther and the British version of The Office.
Popular HBO shows like Game of Thrones and Veep will be available on the streaming service, but I wonder if this means that they’re not going to be available for us to watch on HBO Now/Go anymore. We don’t know all the details yet, but I hope that’s not the case.

Other HBO Max content offerings include Friends, a Gossip Girl reboot, a show about Dune, and we’re sure much more. The battle lines in the streaming war are being drawn.
