David Tennant looks back at his heartbreaking Doctor Who finale
By Ariba Bhuvad
Every few years, the Doctor on Doctor Who gets a serious facelift, dying so they can be reborn iin the guise of a new actor. Thus far, two of my favorite Doctors have been David Tennant and Matt Smith. Their tenures on the show were poignant, thought-provoking and simply fun to watch, especially back to back. I first fell in love with Tennant after seeing him on Doctor Who, and it still hasn’t fizzled out.
It’s hard to believe, but we’re coming up on the 10-year anniversary of “The End of Time,” Tennant’s final Doctor Who episode, which is also the final episode with Russell T. Davies as showrunner, before Steven Moffat’s final episode as showrunner. TEN YEARS! I’m not sure how that much time has flown by, but it has.
“The End of Time” was split into two parts, one that aired as the Christmas 2009 special and one that aired in January 2010. The latter introduced us to Matt Smith as the Doctor. Doctor Who fans will recall that Tennant’s story closed out with us learning about the Time War and a bit more about the Master. And if you’ve completely forgotten all of this and more, don’t worry, because in honor of the tenth anniversary, Fathom Events is doing something special for fans. On August 7, you can catch “The End of Time” on the big screen (head here to find tickets and times in your area).

The screenings will include special behind-the-scenes content. Check out a sample below courtesy of Den of Geek, of Tennant talking about his final moments as the character. Beware the feels:
It’s hard for me to watch this clip without reliving every drop of sadness I felt while watching Tennant’s final moments as the Doctor for the first time. But hey, any excuse to watch David Tennant and I’m game.
