HBO previews Watchmen, His Dark Materials and Westworld in new teaser

HBO has a rash of new shows premiering this fall, including Watchmen and His Dark Materials, with the third season of Westworld coming in 2020. Catch brief new glimpses of those shows, plus plenty of others, in the network’s new preview teaser:

The shots from Westworld season 3 mostly look drawn from earlier teasers, but that doesn’t mean they’re not exciting. Here, we have Aaron Paul and Lena Waithe’s characters blowing something up:

It looks like Paul’s character isn’t just a harmless construction worker after all.

Also, although it’s not in the trailer, HBO did release this mysterious GIF from the third season, of Dolores Abernathy holding someone in bed:

Not sure who is in the bed with her. The host form of Charlotte Hale? Maeve Millay? Wild theories are welcome.

There are also some shots worth considering from His Dark Materials, starting with Lyra (Dafne Keen) in a cage:

If the show follows the books as closely as we’re heard they will, then this is Lyra being measured for a procedure that — if she doesn’t escape it — separates her from her daemon, Pantalaimon.

Here are Lyra and Pantalaimon looking at the golden compass for which the first book in the trilogy is named:

Here’s Ariyon Bakare as Lord Boreal. That bird flying above him is his daemon, one presumes.

In the books, Lord Boreal has a snake for a daemon, but then you couldn’t get shots like this, so it’s a change well considered.

Okay, I’m hyped for this show.

Now let’s check out the new shots for Watchmen. Here’s Regina King’s character, Angela Abraham, in full vigilante costume:
