If you were a fan of the first season of Star Wars Resistance, then we’ve got some bittersweet news for you: season 2 will be the animated show’s last…but Disney just dropped an awesome trailer for it. You win some, you lose some.
Star Wars Resistance season 1 picked up roughly six months before the events of Episode VII: The Force Awakens. It told the story of Kazuda Xiono, a New Republic X-Wing pilot who was recruited by Poe Dameron of the Resistance to spy on the rising threat of the First Order. Here’s the trailer for season 2:
Per StarWars.com, season 2 of Resistance is set during the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi and before the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The story will pick up after Kaz and the gang have made the Colossus viable for space travel in order to escape from Agent Tierny and Commander Pyre, who have taken Tam Ryvora — a member of Kaz’s team — aboard their ship. They’re hoping to turn her to the First Order and use her to track her former friends.
We can see familiar faces from the movie show up in the trailer, including General Hux, Captain Phasma and even Kylo Ren.

I love the fact that we’ll get to see Supreme Leader Kylo Ren in animated form before seeing him in the flesh in The Rise of Skywalker this December. Also, you can tell how his power has grown since he’s doing the whole “Force Choke through a hologram” thing his grandfather was so fond of back when.

The cast of season 1 returns for season 2, along with some newcomers. Kylo Ren is being voiced by Star Wars: The Clone Wars alum Matthew Wood. Joe Manganiello will voice Ax Tagrin, Daveed Diggs will voice Norath Kev and Lucy Lawless will voice the Aeosian Queen.
Star Wars Resistance season 2 will premiere on the Disney Channel on Sunday, October 6 at 10:00 p.m. EST.
