It seems no matter where she goes, Emilia Clarke — best known as Daenerys Targaryen, the Mother of Dragons on Game of Thrones — will have wild fan theories follow her around. Case in point: after the trailer dropped for Clarke’s upcoming romantic comedy, Last Christmas, the internet was abuzz that Clarke’s co-star, Henry Golding of Crazy Rich Asians, is playing a ghost.

Sounds weird, right? Yeah, well R+L=J was just a wild fan theory for a long time, too.

Based on the Wham! song of the same name — you know the one, even if you wish you didn’t — Last Christmas follows Kate (Clarke), a young woman who works at a year-round Christmas store and is wondering if she’s wasting her life. Then, one day, she randomly meets Tom (Golding). The internet was quick to point out that in the trailer, Tom never interacts with anyone but Kate, and appears seemingly out of midair, something Kate even points out:

Why might Golding’s ghost be following Clarke around? The answer lies is a line from the Wham ! song: “Last Christmas, I gave you my heart.” Take it literally, Twitter:

Later in the trailer, Kate does say that at one point she was “really sick” and “nearly died.” Did Tom’s heart save her? And now he’s hanging around to see what good it did?

As far as romantic comedies go, that’s not even the strangest plot twist out there. Looking at you, Nicholas Sparks.
