Disney franchises prepare for “moving day” to Disney+
By Ariba Bhuvad
This November, Disney is debuting Disney+, its new streaming service. Soon enough, Disney+ will be the only place you can stream anything involving the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars Pixar and anything else owned by the House of Mouse.
Now, you might see this as Disney hoarding its vast collection of content to get subscription dollars…and you’d be right…but the company is putting a happier face on it with a recent Twitter thread depicting its iconic characters packing their stuff and getting ready to move on out.
Naturally, it’s not just Disney getting in on the fun. Its many subsidiaries are kicking in commentary, too, with the National Geographic Twitter account suggesting where Pixar could find Dory for the move:
This is the content the internet was created for.
Naturally, all the Marvel superheroes are eager to get a move on.
And let’s not forget our friends in a galaxies far, far away:
Eloquent as always, Groot.
Not everyone is amused by this thread, however:
The irony there is that because Disney bought 20th Century Fox, it owns The Simpsons, so any surliness on The Simpsons Twitter account is actually carefully calculated corporate strategy designed to sell you the illusion of authenticity.
