It’s the age-old question: which super-franchise is most popular among fans? In today’s race to see who can make “the next Game of Thrones,” cache counts for a ton, and everyone wants to know which property has the most.

Lord of the Rings and Star Wars are among the best-known properties in modern media, and both are getting the small screen treatment. Amazon is currently in pre-production on a fabulously expensive Lord of the Rings show, while Disney is working a number of live-action Star Wars shows to debut on its upcoming Disney+ streaming service.

So, which of the two franchises is most beloved? Well, according to a new poll on Twitter — which is definitive in all things — it’s Lord of the Rings by a Rohan country mile:

Now, obviously this is a Twitter poll and not remotely definitive — there isn’t even a question posed, really — but 38 thousand votes is nothing to sneeze at. And honestly, I’m kind of surprised at the results. Disney has been churning out a new Star Wars movie every year since 2015’s The Force Awakens. I suppose you could point to fan-fatigue and over-saturation of the market, which is a very real thing — just ask Solo: A Star Wars Story — but that’s still more lopsided than I was expecting. Maybe Lord of the Rings has benefitted from being out of the spotlight for a while, something Amazon is eager to change.

With casting news coming out, hype is building for Amazon’s Lord of the Rings show. If Amazon can keep the anticipation building — when are we getting a teaser, huh? — it could have a big hit on its hands.
