Well, how very appropriate.

After news leaked yesterday that Game of Thrones star Kit Harington would be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, everyone was wondering who would he play, and which franchise he would be a part of? Maybe Johnny Storm of the Fantastic Four? He would share initials with Jon Snow. Or how about a new Wolverine? Harington’s already pretty short, so he has that going for him.

Today at Disney’s D23 Expo, on the Marvel panel, Marvel chief Kevin Feige revealed that Harington will be in The Eternals as a character named Dane Whitman, also known as the superhero Black Knight.

One of several superheroes (and villains) to bear the name Black Knight, Whitman inherits a cursed sword, and is bent on restoring honor to his family, at least in the comics. And if you’re thinking that casting Harington as a sword-wielding, honor-bound hero who wears a lot of black sounds like typecasting…well, yeah, it does seem pretty on the nose.

So Harington will feature in The Eternals, about an immortal race of alien beings charged with the protection of Earth. Dane Whitman himself is not an Eternal, but is often romantically linked wither the Eternal Sersi, who will be played in the movie by Gemma Chan. (Sersi? Said like Cersei? It’s like they’re trying to underline the Game of Thrones connections.) The all-star cast also includes people like Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani and Harington’s old Thrones costar Richard Madden.

The Eternals will hit theaters on November 6, 2020. You’re a superhero, Kit. You’ve officially made it.

This wasn’t the only news to come out of the Marvel panel. Feige also showed off some footage from the upcoming Black Widow movie and revealed that Black Panther II (working title) would be coming out on May 6, 2022.
