Watch a slow motion-happy new promo for The Walking Dead season 10

The tenth season of The Walking Dead premieres on October 6, and will see the survivors of the zombie apocalypse (well, the ones we like) go toe to toe with the Whisperers, creepy humans who have taken to wearing the skins of walkers so as to blend in with them.

Everything’s normal, guys.

Anyway, with the premiere date looming, AMC has been turning up the marketing heat. First, they released a proper trailer at San Diego Comic-Con:

Then they debuted a new tagline: “Silence the Whispers.” Below, characters show off their spelling:

Finally, with a new promo that came out today, they’re fully embracing the “Silence the Whispers” idea. This promo has it all: quotes from the new season, tons of slow motion effects, and characters putting fingers to their lips and shushing you like a bunch of badass post-apocalyptic librarians.

Although ratings for The Walking Dead have been falling in recent years, it still pulls well for AMC, and AMC President of Programming David Madden doesn’t see it going anywhere. Silence those whispers of dissent.

Honestly, it’s kind of fashionable to hate on The Walking Dead these days, but clearly someone out there is still enjoying it, and I wish them the best when the new season kicks off.
