The Marvel Cinematic Universe may have lost one Stark, but it’s gained two more in the forms of Richard Madden and Kit Harington, both of whom will appear in The Eternals. Out next year, the movie is about a group of immortal being charged with protecting the earth.

Madden is playing Ikaris, an Eternal fueled by cosmic energy. Harington is playing a non-Eternal named Dane Whitman, aka the superhero Black Knight, a noble-hearted man trying to redeem his family’s honor. Sure, it’s typecasting, but when Marvel comes calling, you answer.

Anyway, MCU boss Kevin Feige recently talked to Good Morning America about Harington’s role in the film and his potential footprint in the MCU. Fast-forward to 1:45 for the bit about Harington:

“He’s a really amazing actor, and this part came up in The Eternals film that we’re doing,” Feige said. “We were so happy when he agreed to join, and it is a part that could perhaps grow into something else in the future.”

To think that Harington’s role could “grow into something else” is great news if the actor really doesn’t mind playing a knight who wears a lot of black and is trying to restore his family’s honor…I mean, the part literally screams, “I’m Jon Snow in the MCU and I don’t care what you think about it because I’m getting paid Marvel money!”

If Marvel wanted to extend Harington’s role in the MCU, there’s an established canon to work from: In one Eternals storyline, an alternate version of Whitman tries to kill his girlfriend Sersi (Gemma Chan in the movie) because she spurned his romantic advances in another universe. And it’s Ikaris who tries to save her. It’ll be the Jon Snow vs Robb Stark battle no one asked for but everyone will watch.
