TSA reverses ban on Star Wars-themed detonator Coke bottles
By Ariba Bhuvad
Star Wars fans, we have some good news for you! The Transportation Security Administration has changed its mind about banning the Coke bottles bought at Disney’s Galaxy’s Edge theme park. You can now pack them into your checked luggage or drink up all the soda and pack them empty in your carry-on.
Originally, the TSA placed the ban on these soda bottles because they’re modeled after detonators from the Star Wars movies, like this one:
It was all in light-hearted fun for the franchise’s fans, but bring that into an airport, and the authorities start to get skittish.
After this devastating tweet, the Star Wars-loving public flew into a panic. To be fair, I can see why the TSA wasn’t wild about these things at first, but I’m glad fans are now able to take a piece of Galaxy’s Edge home with them free and clear.

The TSA has since updated its official position:
"We have completed our review and instructed our officers to treat these as an oversized liquid. Because these bottles contain liquids larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters), they should be put in checked baggage or emptied to be brought on as carry-on item. TSA officers will maintain the discretion to prohibit any item through the screening checkpoint if they believe it poses a security threat."
From a perceived threat to an oversized liquid, huh? As goes the Star Wars nation, so goes the United States government.
