See the trailer for ‘See,’ Jason Momoa’s post-apocalyptic epic

There are a lot of new streaming services on the horizon: Disney+, HBO Max, whatever NBCUniversal is going to call their thing, etc. Also around the bend is Apple TV+, featuring shows from the people who brought you the iPhone XR, and also the iPhone before that. They have a lot of shows in the works, including See, a post-apocalyptic epic where everyone is blind…expect for Jason Momoa’s kids. They can see, and based on the trailer, that becomes a big deal. Watch below:

Jason Momoa loves playing rough-and-tumble types, doesn’t he? It suits him, so have at it. Here he plays a warlord named Baba Voss, which I assume is a cool-sounding name thousands of years in our future.

I wonder how they’ll handle the practicalities of living in a world where people can’t see. Hunting must be harder, but I’m sure people adjust. Did they make that bridge across the ravine or was it there before?

Anyway, the premise is interesting, although some of the dialogue in this trailer sounds pretty wooden. “My children may have the power that we would call magical, or evil.” Yep, that’s definitely how people sound when they talk.

See comes to us from writer Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) and director Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games movies). Apple spent quite a lot of money on it, more than you’d think it would for an unproven property, but it wants to Apple TV+ to do well, and it has plenty of money to burn anyway.

See will be available to watch when Apple TV+ launches on November 1. The starting price is $4.99 per month. Other notable shows include The Morning Show — which comes with a ton of star power in the form of Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Steve Carell — the space race drama For All Mankind and Dickinson, about the life of the poet Emily Dickinson.
