Joe Keery, who plays Steve Harington on Stranger Things, has officially sent the internet into a state of panic. Why? Because of hair.

As Digital Spy reports, Keery was at a Chanel event last week, and as soon as he stepped in front of the cameras, it was game over. Once the picture of Joe Keery’s fringey hairdo went public, the internet began to mourn the loss of the finest head of ’80s throwback hair the world had ever seen.

I’m glad people are clarifying that Joe Keery isn’t the one who died, just his hair. It sure does feel like a heavy loss though, doesn’t it?

Now, there’s no guarantee that Joe Keery will keep his hair this way. If and when Stranger Things is officially renewed, the hope is that the hairstyle we all love so much comes back. I mean, it’s practically a character onto itself by this point, with all the references they’ve made to it.

Basically, Steve’s hair is as important to Stranger Things as Eleven’s telekinetic abilities and the cavalcade of ’80s hits on the soundtrack. It must return.

I think we all have to take a moment to breathe and relax, because Keery is involved in another project right now. He was recently cast in CBS All Access’ No Activity, which is hopefully why he chopped off his beautiful locks.

Side note: I’m glad someone pointed out the similarity between Keery’s new look and Samwell Tarly. On point.

Goodbye, Steve Harington’s hair. See you soon.
