More flashbacks are coming on The Walking Dead season 10
The Walking Dead is returning for a tenth season in October. Season 9 ended with the survivors dealing with the brutal deaths of several friends and family members at the hands of the Whisperers, people who wear the skin of walkers so they can walk among them and shepherd them wherever they wish.
In season 10, some survivors like Sidiq will have flashbacks about their terrifying encounters with the Whisperers. Entertainment Weekly spoke with showrunner Angela Kang about what we can expect in those moments:
"Yes, I will say that there’s some flashbacks this season. One of the things we were kind of dealing with in the season has to do with illusion and people’s fears and what’s real, what’s not, the weight of the past on people. So, we’ll definitely see some windows into the past that kind of shed light on the present. It should be interesting."
Flashbacks won’t be the only way viewers will get to know the Whisperers. “There is some other stuff going on,” Kang said, helpfully. “There’s some pretty cool stuff, I think.” Well, there you go.
Kang took over as showrunner on The Walking Dead in season 9. To mark the occasion — as well as the new storylines — she changed the opening sequence quite drastically. Will season 10 include more changes?
"While there will not be as drastic a change in season 10, there will be some tweaks for the new season. For the title sequence, we did our big change for the previous season since that was the time-jump season and there was so much that changed. There will be some new stuff for title sequences, but I’ll say that it’s not going to be as drastic a shift as we made when we jumped time…[T]here will be some fun little Easter eggs and things that are new within the titles."
