Halloween is a horror movie classic whose fandom has continued to grow over the last four decades. When the original movie, starring Jamie Lee Curtis, released in 1978, it was among the first to usher in a series of iconic horror/slasher movies that many of us watch till this day. The ’70s and ’80s were a great time for these films, but there’s still plenty of room for them in 2019.
Last year, the epic Halloween saga continued, with Michael Myers back once again to terrorize Laurie Strode (Curtis). How do you get rid of this guy?! The 2018 film was a direct sequel to the original 1978 film, and ignored everything that happened in the movies following it. Not only did this work pretty well, but it also opened up some possibilities for the future installments.
Curtis sat down with Collider to talk about the next two installments, and I have to say, as a horror movie fan, I am super excited to see where they take us. Not only will Curtis return as Laurie, but the upcoming movies will bring back some familiar faces from the original film.
"What I love that [director David Gordon Green] and [writer Danny McBride] and company did is they connected the dots for forty years, now they’re going back to really unpack the first movie, bringing back all those characters whose lives were affected by what happened in 1978.And then the last movie is the sort of cultural phenomenon of violence, that’s what the third movie ultimately is, a very powerful examination of violence. It comes at it from a slightly different way. You’ll like it…If you believe in me at all, I promise you what David Gordon Green has come up with as a way to complete this trilogy is sensational."
So, who exactly will be returning for the next two movies? We’ve got an all-grown-up version of Tommy Doyle, played by Anthony Michael Hall. You may remember Tommy as the little kid that Laurie was babysitting in the 1978 film. I’m sure he wasn’t traumatized at all.
In addition to that, Slashfilm reports that Kyle Richards, who played the young Lindsay Wallace in the 1978 film, will return to reprise her role. She played the other kid Laurie Strode was babysitting that horrible Halloween night.
Below, YouTuber Doctor Wolfua presents an interesting theory as to who else could potentially return for the franchise’s next two films, among other things.
In the original movie, Laurie Strode had a crush on a guy named Ben Tramer. We only heard about him at the time, but in the 1981 sequel, we actually meet him. Unfortunately, he’s killed by the police after getting mistaken for Michael Myers (he probably shouldn’t have been wearing his mask, just saying).
But since none of the sequels after the original film matter anymore, the character of Ben Tramer could very well be in the story now. In fact, Doctor Wolfua believes Ben will return as Laurie’s ex-husband, as a callback to the movie that kicked it all off.

When can we expect for the next two Halloween movies to release? It looks like the second film, Halloween Kills, is set to premiere on October 16, 2020, followed by Halloween Ends on October 15, 2021. It feels like an extremely long wait, but before we know it we’ll be sitting in the theater covering our faces and jumping out of our seats in horror.
The exciting news is that Halloween Kills has officially started principal photography! That means we’re just one step closer to seeing where this story goes next.
"Hey Reddit, thought you might like to see the way we welcomed the director to set on the first day of filming “Halloween Kills.” Hope he doesn’t take it personally. from blumhouse"
Are there any other surviving characters from the 1978 film that you would like to see? Share them in the comments — I’d love to see what you guys come up with.
