Female-led Arrow spin-off series may be in the works

Arrow is kicking off its eighth and final season in little less than a month, and I think I speak for many Arrowverse fans when I say that we are not ready…at all. It’ll be hard to let go of the show that kickstarted the DCTV universe.

But while we’ll be saying goodbye to Oliver Queen, our amazing Green Arrow, we may not have to say goodbye to everyone. According to Entertainment Weekly, there may be an Arrow spinoff in the works. But before you jump up and down in joy, check out the details:

"The potential show will be introduced via a backdoor pilot in Arrow’s eighth and final season and would star Katherine McNamara as Mia Smoak/Green Arrow, and Katie Cassidy Rodgers (Laurel Lance) and Juliana Harkavy (Dinah Drake) as the Canaries."

The Canaries, coming to the CW in fall 2020. I can get behind that. This group of women has been dominating Arrow for a while, and a show following their adventures could be incredible.

Mia is the daughter of Felicity and Oliver. It would make sense to center a show around Mia as she carries on her parents’ legacy. I want to know more about her upbringing, her past, and what brought her to where she is when we first see her. I wonder if other younger characters could play a role, too, like Diggle’s son Connor.

This spinoff needs to happen — like yesterday. Let’s just cross our fingers that the backdoor pilot during Arrow’s final season is a hit. The future of the series depends on it.
