Triple Force Friday: Check out all the new Star Wars merch!

facebooktwitterreddit

In the months leading up to every new Star Wars movie, Disney launches a marketing/toy event to promote the newest adventure in that galaxy far, far away. It’s called Force Friday, and it’s major.

This year, because there will be three new titles  — Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, The Mandalorian, and the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order — the House of Mouse has expanded with Triple Force Friday, with triple the merch. It’s okay, my mortgage can wait.

Also new this year was a live stream featuring cast members from all three titles unboxing toys related to their characters. The video is 45 minutes long and worth watching all the way through — there’s also a trailer for Fallen Order in there, as well as interviews with Star Wars stars and a special shoutout from The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau and his producing partner Dave Filoni.

My favorite part of the video has to be Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal’s reaction when he begins to unbox each of the toys from The Mandalorian. That starts around 38:44.

Here’s the new trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order by itself. Check it out:

And now let’s look at that merch, starting with the Mandalorian figure Pascal was so psyched about:

The regular Black Series for $19.99 at all major retailers.

Gina Carrano was on hand, as well, and got to see her Cara Dune figure for the first time:

This one starts at $19.99.

There’s also an AT-ST toy. I guess we know one will show up in The Mandalorian now:

This one starts at $79.99. Again, just remember what’s important in life: things.

A Klantooinian Raider piloting an AT-ST formerly belonging to the Empire? Just goes to show you how far things have fallen since the end of Return of the Jedi, which is when The Mandalorian is set.

Moving on to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, we’ve got several Black Series items to look over. All regular Black Series figures start at $19.99.

First up, Supreme Leader Kylo Ren is rocking his repaired mask:

And here’s the mask itself in all its patched-up glory. Hasbro is calling this the Supreme Leader Kylo Ren Force Rage Mask, and it’s going for $34.99.

The Black Series Sith Trooper is ready for action:

The First Order Snowtrooper makes its Black Series debut:

Here’s our hero, Rey, and her new droid companion, D-O.

Rey is joined by newcomer Jannah:

Finally, let’s look at some of the toys from EA’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Here’s the trailer by itself:

Shameless star Cameron Monaghan voices Cal Kestis, a Jedi Padawan who escaped the Jedi Purge in Revenge of the Sith. Cal’s been in hiding ever since, but when a friend is in trouble, Cal uses the Force to save him. The Empire learns of it and sends one of Darth Vader’s personally trained Dark Force users — the Inquisitor Second Sister — to seek him out and destroy him.

First up, a Cal doll:

Here’s Second Sister…

…and here’s a look at the badass Purge Trooper:

And for all you collectors out there, Hasbro has released variant editions of some of the Black Series figures for $24.99 each.
