Acting in his capacity as an ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme and a known environmental activistGame of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau recently traveled to Peru to learn more about what has been causing the fires in the Amazon rainforest. He spoke to the UNDP upon his experience, and what prompted him to visit in the first place.

"When I saw those images of the Amazon on fire, like everyone else, I felt shocked, powerless and angry. It didn’t make sense to me. Which is why I wanted to come to Peru and find out why the Amazon is on fire. […] What I found when I traveled to Peru is that the burning of the Amazon, the deforestation is incredibly complex. But at the core is social inequality. […] If we don’t address inequality on a global scale, then we won’t be able to fix climate change. It’s complex, but there’s hope. We have the resources, we have the technology. We just need to do it. We need to come together as individuals, as communities, as nations. And if we do that, we can solve the problem."

Coster-Waldau shared a video of his travels, which you can check out below. Keep fighting the good fight, Nikolaj!

While Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is out trying to save the planet, his Game of Thrones costars are keeping busy in their own ways. This includes Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton, eep), who has just been cast in a lead role in Suppression, according to Deadline. Suppression is a thriller-horror, which sounds right up Rheon’s alley. It’ll be a while before I can see him on screen and not get kinda nervous.

And then there’s our silly, crazy Jason Momoa, who is always up to some sort of silly antic. His most recent involves licking Slayer and Exodus guitarist Gary Holt on the face. It actually happened a while back, and Holt posted the picture on Instagram to prove it.

“CAPTION CONTEST!!!” You heard the man. It’s open season on this image.

Twelve times Game of Thrones stars should’ve won Emmys but didn’t. dark. Next
