It’s hard to believe, but this year’s New York Comic Con is almost upon us — and that means the world of entertainment is about to be full of exciting announcements and trailer drops. Although NYCC has a reputation for being less explosive than its summer counterpart, San Diego Comic-Con, there are plenty of major franchises making appearances this weekend. And with those appearances, fans are likely to receive updates on and insight into their favorite films and television series.
There are so many fun events and interesting panels taking place at NYCC, but these seven are ones that science-fiction and fantasy lovers definitely won’t want to miss.

HBO’s Watchmen panel and screening: October 4, 3:45 – Javits Main Stage
With HBO’s Watchmen premiering at the end of this month, it’s to be expected that the show would have a presence at this year’s NYCC. Both a panel and screening of the first episode will take place on Saturday, with numerous big names associated with the series speaking on it. Among the lineup are executive producer and writer Damon Lindelof and executive producer-director Nicole Kassell, as well as stars Regina King, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jeremy Irons, Jean Smart, Hong Chau, Louis Gossett Jr. and Tim Blake Nelson.
Of course, Watchmen fans will soon be able to judge the first season of the series by simply tuning in on October 20, but those looking for insight into how the show adapted Alan Moore’s original vision can get it with this panel discussion.
