Star Trek: Discovery producers tease what’s to come in season 3!
New York Comic Con 2019 is over, and it yielded up all kinds of goodies. We got a new look at Outlander season 5, another trailer for Star Trek: Picard, and much more!
But Picard isn’t the only Star Trek game in town. CBS All Access also dropped the first look at Star Trek: Discovery season 3, which will see Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and the crew of the Discovery hopping 930 years into the future. Check it out!
It looks like Burnham has jumped ahead of the Discovery and is no longer in contact with the crew of the ship. Are they in the same time period as her? Or are they time-jumping around looking for her? TrekMovie was at the Star Trek panel in New York and sniffed around for answers.
Creator Alex Kurtzman confirmed that the Discovery is the only ship in the future that has a spore drive, so maybe the crew will use that to their advantage when looking for Burnham.
Showrunner Michelle Paradise said that the Federation will be going through the wringer in the future, and that the ship’s crew become a beacon of hope. “It’s a mix of things,” Paradise said. “We’re going 930 years into the future, so we’re taking expectations and alliances and enemies and all of those things and putting them in a blender and mixing it all up and seeing what’s going to happen. It’s going to be very interesting, I think.”
We likely won’t see what happens next on Discovery until Picard season 1 is finished airing. That show kicks off on January 23.
