News about Amazon’s adaptation of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time novels is picking up. The 14-book fantasy epic takes place in a world where an all-female organization called the Aes Sedai are looking for a prophesied figure known as the Dragon Reborn, who could either save or doom humanity. It’s a lot of story. Is Amazon up to the task?
Well, it’s assembled a pretty solid cast, including Oscar nominee Rosamund Pike as the Aes Sedai Moiraine. Other key personnel include Barney Harris as Mat Cauthon, Marcus Rutherford as Perrin Aybara, Josha Straowski as Rand al’Thor, Daniel Henney as al’Lan Mandragoran, Zoe Robins as Nynaeve al’Meara and Madeleine Madden as Egwene Al’Vere. We’ve seen the lot of them reading through the first episode, so production is officially underway.
On September 10th, the cast and crew of #WOTonPrime got together to read the first episode of The Wheel Of Time. Production is now on its way and we are VERY excited to see this show come to life! #TwitterOfTime, this is for you. pic.twitter.com/FmWA4zeh2r

That segues nicely into a bit of casting news from Adam Whitehead at The Wertzone, who reporting that British actress Naana Agyei Ampadu has joined the cast — you can see her deep in concentration at the table read.

According to Whitehead, Ampadu’s agency — Waring & McKenna — tweeted out she was part of the cast, but that tweet has since been removed.
There’s no word on who Ampadu is playing, but Twitter has some ideas.
I think Naana Agyei-Ampadu might be Mistress Luhan and Lolita Chakabarti might be Mistress al'Vere. Totally guessing based off of proximity at the table to @Marcus_Rudda and @tigermadden.

Ampadu does mostly stage work but did have a small role in Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One. Amazon has yet to make this casting news official, but now that the internet has a hold of it, it’s only a matter of time.
